ToUDA is Tohoku University's digital archive. It provides online access to digitized cultural and academic resources held by Tohoku University.

The Great East Japan Earthquake Collection

We are collecting and preserving materials related to the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011, in order to learn from the experiences gained from the disaster and to pass them on to future generations.
Physical materials, such as books, magazines, CDs and DVDs may only be used within the library.

Types of earthquake-related materials

  • Survey reports, recovery and reconstruction plans, etc.
  • Free papers, mini-magazines, flyers, etc.
  • Flyers and materials from events, seminars, consultations, etc.
  • Records of various activities (volunteer records, evacuation centers news, etc.)
  • School newsletters, bulletins, public relations magazines, etc.
  • Collections of essays, personal experiences, memoirs and etc, created by individuals or groups.
  • Magazines, newspapers, etc.

The Great East Japan Earthquake Collection Online version

You can view digital academic documents, flyers, pamphlets, etc. related to the Great East Japan Earthquake that have been approved for publication online.

* It includes books, photographs, and some records of past earthquakes and tsunamis.

UN/EU Materials

Tohoku University Library has been designated as a United Nations Depository Library since July 1965, and as an EDC (European Documentation Center) and an EU Information Centre (European Info = EUi) since September 1983.

One of the methods of language learning is extensive reading.
