We would like to express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.
We offer the following services to members of universities and other institutions in the affected area.

- For requests for photocopies and interlibrary loan from the area mentioned above, there is no charge for photocopying and postage.
- *Upon request, the documents will be sent by express delivery.
- *Please pay for postage of returning in interlibrary loan.

- See what you get! We have released the "Agricultural Library E-Book Gacha".

- To enjoy it, simply choose a gacha machine of your preferred genre and spin it!

Use of the library when the service desk is closed
- Students and faculty members of Tohoku University may use the library after closing hours (7:00-24:00), regardless of their affiliated campus.
- This includes the period when the library is closed for the university-wide summer break.
- However, please note that the library is not available for anyone during the following dates and times due to planned power outages.
- Friday 28 August, 17:00 - Monday 31 August, 9:00, 2026
Due date
- If you borrow books between Thursday 23 July and Thursday 24 September, 2026, the due date is Thursday 8 October, 2026.
- *The loan period of serials, the shared stack room's books and other libraries' books is two weeks.
- *If you are leaving the university before Thursday 8 October, 2026, please return books before then.
Using the Agricultural Library after hours & Important notes
- Students and faculty members of Tohoku University may use Aobayama Commons (including the Agricultura Library) after closing hours, regardless of their affiliated campus.
- ※Please check the opening calendar for temporary closures or changes to opening hours.
Notes on use
- Please observe the following precautions for after-hours use.
- ・ Observe Agricultural Library Regulations (in Japanese) and the notice on using Learning Commons (Campus only).
- ・ Only the applicant can use the library.
- ・ Only books and journals processed by self-checkout machines can be taken out of the library.
- ・When leaving the library, please switch off the equipment used and lock the windows. If there is no one left but you, turn the lights off.
- ・When an earthquake occurs, stay away from the bookshelf.
- ・Eating and drinking are permitted only in the designated areas.
- ・Note that air conditioning is not available after hours.
- If the above is not observed, or if security problems occur,
- the individual user will be suspended from using the service or the trial of the service may be stopped.
- Please take care of your safety as there are no staff members during this time.
- When an earthquake occurs, move away from the bookshelves immediately as a large number of books may fall off.
- We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
