Tohoku University is continuing its project to digitize the Tibetan Buddhist canonical sutra in the Delge edition, one of the most valuable materials in the library's collection.
To commemorate the release of the new digital archives ToUDA, we will hold an exhibition introducing not only the Tibetan Buddhist sutra but also other masterpieces of Buddhist art and crafts brought to Japan from Tibet by Kawaguchi Ekai, which is now a collection of the Graduate School of Arts and Letters.

“Kawaguchi Ekai and his collection on Tibetan Buddhism”
Kawaguchi Ekai (1866-1945) is a Buddhist who overcame various hardships to enter Tibet, which was in a state of isolation at the time.
This lecture focuses on the achievements and collections of the Kawaguchi Ekai (1866-1945).
Please take this opportunity to learn about the significance of the rare club collection held by Tohoku University.
