The The "Wasan Collection" of the Tohoku University Library on the Tohoku University Digital Archives (ToUDA) has been linked with the Pacific Rim Library (PRL), which is operated by the Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance (PRRLA).
As a result, approximately 15,000 items from Tohoku University's Wasan Collection (including arithmetic materials from the Kano Bunko collection) can now be searched and accessed via the PRL website. This linkage is expected to increase access to the resources registered in the Tohoku University Digital Archives and further promote research based on these materials.
The Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance (PRRLA) is an organization of about 40 academic libraries throughout the Pacific Rim, including the University of California, Los Angeles; the National University of Singapore; and Tsinghua University, working together to provide global access to digital scholarly resources.
One of PRRLA's major initiatives, the Pacific Rim Library (PRL), is a portal that enables access to the unique historical and cultural scholarly resources of its member institutions. Currently, approximately 430,000 items from diverse collections including those of the University of Washington, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and the University of Hong Kong are searchable. In Japan, Tohoku University and Keio University are currently the only institutions whose collections are linked with PRL.
