晩翠文庫展目録

　東北大学附属図書館は、昭和４１年３月、土井晩翠旧蔵書２，５６６冊を受け入れた。３万と称される晩翠蔵書の大半は戦災によって失われたが、専攻の英文学をはじめとし、詩人として活躍するに役立った和漢洋の文献や多くの自筆書入本等故人の愛惜やまなかったものがかろうじて戦禍をまぬがれて本学に譲られることになったわけである。この中には、アインシュタインや漱石の書簡もあり、自著詩集、翻訳もほぼ揃っている。
　今回整理完了を機会に、自筆書入本を中心として展示し、大方の清覧に供することとする。
　
土井林吉略年譜
明治　４　　１０月２３日仙台市北鍛冶町に生る。
　　１８　　斎藤秀三郎の仙台英語学校に学ぶ。
　　２１　　第二高等中学校入学。
　　２７　　東京帝国大学文科大学英文科入学、「帝国文学」編集委員となり、晩翠と号して詩作を発表す。
　　３０　　同大学卒業。
　　３３　　第二高等学校教授となる。
　　３４　　欧州留学、３年の後帰朝。
昭和　９　　第二高等学校退職。以後文筆に従う。
　　２５　　文化勲章を受ける。姓の読み方を俗称の如く「どい」とする。
　　２７　　１０月１９日仙台に没。８１才。
